YYSO – YES! is proud of our Community Connections

Volunteers: It’s all about relationships! YYSO-YES! is an organization of over 60 students. These students have parents and family members, friends, private music teachers and school teachers from 16 schools. We have two conductors and six sectional coaches. We utilize one rehearsal hall and at least two performance venues annually. We work closely with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. Ours is a highly complex and active organization, fueled entirely by volunteers. Relationships are at the heart of our success and we are grateful for the many volunteers who contribute their time, expertise and energy to our program.

Alumni: Every year, at least 10 students graduate from high school and the YYSO-YES! and go on to new opportunities. YYSO-YES! helps prepare students for bright futures! Click here to learn more.

Yakima Symphony Orchestra: YYSO-YES! is a subsidiary of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra (YSO). We are fortunate to have the guidance and expertise of the YSO as, together, we work to provide a program of excellence for our students and the community.

Schools: YYSO-YES! is comprised of students from over 16 schools in the Yakima Valley. We are stronger because of this diversity and look forward to having even more schools represented.

Music Teachers: Most YYSO-YES! students take private lessons. This commitment helps students meet the technical skill expectations necessary to play the high level orchestral music in our repertoire. Currently, 20 teachers have students in the YYSO-YES! We are grateful for their support.

Concerto Competition: YYSO-YES! hosts an annual Concerto Competition. Please click here to learn more.

Yakima Valley: We are a product of the entire Yakima Valley, with students hailing from Cowiche, Grandview, Harrah, Naches, Selah, Sunnyside, Toppenish, Wapato, Yakima, Zillah and other cities and towns. Click here to learn more.

On the Road: YYSO-YES! students share their talents in individual performances, small groups and more.
